Founders story

Who built this and why.

Some things get built out of ambition. This one got built out of experience.

We are two Black immigrant women who came to Canada and did what most newcomers do: worked hard, stayed professional, and figured it out as we went. Nobody handed us a playbook. We built one in real time.We know the calculus of walking into a room and deciding in seconds how much of yourself to bring in. We have pitched to investors who could not see past their own experience. We have made painful choices between career growth and the family that needed us at home.Between us, over two decades of recruiting talent, designing programs, and building communities for the people those systems were never designed to serve. We have been those people. And that is exactly why we built this.

Why Now?

Because the window is narrowing.

Anti-immigrant sentiment is rising. DEI funding is being pulled back. The post-2020 wave of public commitments is receding, and organizations are quietly making a choice: move forward or retreat to what is comfortable.Seisome exists for the ones moving forward. Not because it looks good. Because they genuinely believe it.
Those organizations do not need a consultant who studied equity from the outside. They need partners who have lived it.

Founded by two Black immigrant women who know firsthand what it takes to build a career, launch a business, and find your footing in systems that were not designed with you in mind. If there is anyone to build and deliver learning on career growth for these communities, it is us.But don't just take our word for it...

"Janey is an absolute dream to work with! Incredibly collaborative, impact-driven, and engaged/engaging in all aspects. We've had the pleasure of working with Janey on a wide range of opportunities through research projects, speaking engagements, and consultation/prototyping and she exceeds expectations each time"

Una. Venture for Canada

"Your advice was not only inspiring and insightful, but truly practical! Our attendees left with a tangible template on how to navigate conversations on negotiating and advocating for themselves.
"Always ASK to negotiate."

Justina. Okwera Academy

"I may have already gushed about Janey, but during our career readiness workshop, close to the end, you could find a lot of women in the room seeking direct mentorship from her. That in itself is a testament to how she made people feel."

Lenora. Black Women Business Network
